Napoleon once proclaimed; “China is a sleeping giant. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move the world.” Today, the slumbering giant has awakened and is shaking the world.
The rise of China has been felt all over the world. However, nowhere has China’s influence as a player generated the most discussion than in Africa. This is in part the result of Africa’s history with the outside world, and the speed and scale of China’s presence on the continent.
Regrettably, people residing on the continent have not led this discussion. The paucity of knowledge about China has been stark, leaving room for misunderstanding and stifling Africa’s gains from the relationship.
Africans on China (AoC) was founded in 2018 to change this story. China will be a major player on the continent for a long time. Thus, it is essential for Africa to understand China and vice versa for the relationship to be truly mutually beneficial. We have worked hard to
create a platform that builds leadership capacity and boosts the agency of Africa in the relationship. By providing technical consultancy and strategic advisory services for individuals and businesses in Africa and China alike, we hope to enhance the economic gains from the relationship for common individuals and the business community on the continent.
